Teacher Workshops Evaluation
An external evaluation, completed in the spring of 2008, considered
the effectiveness of CSN workshops over the previous five years. 412 CSN
stakeholders participated, including CSN staff, board members, teacher participants,
and teacher-scientist presenters. Effective and unique workshop elements
were:
- hands-on applications

- direct connections to the curriculum
- workshops' interactive format
- peer networking opportunities
- use of science equipment
- scientist-teacher presenter teams
- worthwhile handouts
- science background information
CSN's staff and Board were identified as highly effective, knowledgeable
and committed to ongoing improvements. Recommendations are primarily focused
on expanding and fine-tuning existing professional development offerings.
CSN is committed to implementing these recommendations in the coming year
with financial support from an anonymous donor.
